Welcome

I help family historians become better researchers. Through practical tips, guides, tools, and training, I focus on building your skills so that you can work confidently with sources, analyse evidence, and solve research challenges. Better research means better results — and a more accurate family story.

Researching genealogy is not as simple as typing a name into a search engine or database. It requires a sound knowledge of research techniques and sources, and good analytical skills. You do not have to go to university to learn these skills, but you do have to educate yourself and practice the techniques.

People research family history for a wide range of reasons and the type of people who do family history varies a lot too. All types of researchers will find something useful here. You might be someone who has been researching for decades or you might be just beginning your family history journey. You might be a school student, a university student, or someone undertaking a genealogy course. Or you might be someone who has had their DNA tested and wants to know how to apply the results to learn more about your family history.

I created this website when I was working as a professional genealogist under the business name, Generations Genealogy. I no longer accept clients but I am continuing to develop the website as a resource for genealogists.
